Citizens State Bank Clarifies Local Ownership Status Amid Recent News Coverage
In light of recent news coverage surrounding Cadence Bank’s acquisition of Industry Bancshares, Inc., Citizens State Bank wishes to clarify that it is not affiliated with the Citizens State Bank referenced in the Cadence Bank press release dated July 1, 2025.
We understand there has been some public confusion, particularly due to the reference to "Citizens State Bank," as one of the acquired branches. To be clear, Citizens State Bank - headquartered in Somerville, Texas with branches in Burleson, Washington, and Grimes Counties - is independently owned and has been serving Texas communities for over 100 years. We remain proudly locally owned and locally operated, with deep roots in the communities we serve and no plans to change that.
“As a community bank with a century-long legacy, our commitment has always been to the people and businesses that make our communities thrive,” said Aaron Flencher, President and CEO of Citizens State Bank. “We want to assure our customers that our leadership, ownership, and values remain unchanged. We are not part of any merger or acquisition.”
Founded in 1925, Citizens State Bank has built its reputation on personal relationships, integrity, and service. As we celebrate our 100th anniversary this year, we reaffirm our mission to remain a strong, stable, and independently owned community bank - today and for generations to come.
