Empower. Educate. Elevate.
Through the FDIC’s Money Smart program, Citizens State Bank brings engaging, age-appropriate financial lessons to local elementary schools. Members of our Financial Literacy Team visit participating classrooms to lead interactive sessions tailored to each grade level.
-
Younger students learn the basics — understanding currency, earning money, recognizing needs vs. wants, setting financial goals, and the concept of borrowing.
-
Older students explore more advanced topics like budgeting, saving, investing, charitable giving, career choices, and making smart spending decisions.
We also extend these lessons beyond the classroom, presenting to local Girl Scout troops, 4-H groups, and other organizations.
Each session is built around real-world, relatable examples — from bake sales to raising show animals — so students can connect what they learn to everyday experiences. Seeing a child’s excitement as a concept “clicks” is what makes our investment in this program truly rewarding.
